The food journey continues
Au revoir London and Bonjour Europe! First stop…France. Travelling by train, we arrived late in Paris and were quickly reminded of the subtle cultural differences and language that comes with a European nation. Summer berries and vegetables were overflowing from stalls on the busy streets. Art, food, wine and of course cheese, Paris was a welcome surprise and beautiful start to Europe.

Paris
Tom and I are both lucky enough to have visited Paris before so this time around, we skipped the main sights and spent the three days entranced by food, wine and art.
We took our time wondering the streets, visiting art galleries and tasting the flavours of Paris. By the end we had blisters on our feet and a stomach full of many things but most notably…cheese.
Flavours of Paris
Buttery Croissants, smelly cheese and pickled onion
Favourite ingredient
Ceviche fish

La Bringue
We had a solid tip from a friend to get yourself off the main tourist drag and into the ally ways to find the best food. We were lucky enough to stumble across La Bringue. A very small cute restaurant with a modern French menu.
Ecru
After a long day wondering the streets so we were looking for something close to where we were staying. Ecru was recommended by our host and we were not disappointed. I was blown away by the freshness of the ingredients and the unusual flavour combinations. Think French with an Asian twist. Definitely a great find.

Croissants
We put a bit of research into Paris’ croissantaries ahead of time because let’s face it…croissants are life. Tom and I are obsessed with croissants. At home we regularly consume multiple with our morning coffee. We walked an hour to get to this place and it was definitely worth it. For a taste of one of Paris’s best buttery/flaky goodness this place lives up to its reputation.
The perfect place to people watch and enjoy what the French call an aperitif. Which is an alcaholic drink before a meal. I can recommend a white Negroni.

Art Galleries
We only had 2 full days so we weren’t able to get to many galleries. But we did manage to make it to Le centre Pompidou. You’ll notice I’m a bit of a fan of modern art between the 1900-2000 so a lot of the galleries we go to are from around this time.
It’s honestly breath taking seeing some of the greats in the flesh. Im like a child in a play ground when visiting galleries I learnt about in art school. The architecture is incredible and not to mention the view you get of Paris from the top.
Annecy
A quick stop over on our way to Milan. Wow just incredible! Think coloured old buildings and vibrate blue fresh water.
Flavours of Annecy
Red wine, baguettes and Saucisson (French pork salami)
Favourite ingredient
Coffee mayonnaise
Favourite Restaurants
Tom and I have the theory that we won’t go out for food unless it’s an experience otherwise we would prefer to cook. So we research and hunt for good restaurants before we go. Miget was a beautiful find. Known for its wine selection and modern French food. To start we enjoyed hard boiled eggs filled with coffee mayonnaise (sounds like an unusual paring but worked perfectly) served with sourdough matched with asparagus topped with capers and sardines. Our main was a slow roast beef bun with yogurt and radish. Seriously good food. Not to mention the wine 😍

Bike Ride
We were lucky to be there on Friday when the fresh food markets are on. So we grabbed a baguette, cheese, fresh fruit and Saucisson for a picnic. We hired some bikes and took the day to ride around the crystal blue lake. It was a 40k round trip so take your time. Make sure you go left not right from the old town to avoid a large climb.
